Dojo Award Quantity Calculator

To count awards for a grading, multiply the students testing by the pieces each receives, then add pieces that belong to another category, such as instructor plaques, and any spares. This Dojo Award Studio calculator performs that sum with your figures. It does not suggest a spare quantity, and it cannot know who will pass.

Build your plan

Set spares yourself. This calculates the quantities you enter; it does not assume a recommended buffer.

The decision behind a martial arts division award order

Placement awards, rank recognition and instructor appreciation need different wording. A division name should be understood by the recipient after the event, including the approved discipline and level where needed. Confirm medal sets and presentation plaques as separate quantities.

Keep with your brief: Discipline, division, placement and approved rank wording.

Understand what the result means

(Units × pieces per unit) + additional category pieces + spare pieces

The total is a physical inventory count. It does not determine the number of unique artwork files, names, packages or delivery destinations. Keep those details alongside the result so the quote can distinguish repeated designs from individually personalized pieces.

How does a school owner count a mixed grading?

A school owner is preparing the winter grading. Fourteen color-belt students are testing, and each one who passes receives a Belt Rank Plaque. She enters fourteen units and one piece each. Three senior students are testing for black belt and will receive a Belt Display & Rank Plaque, and the assistant instructor is getting a Dojo Recognition & Instructor Plaque. Those four go in as additional category pieces. With no spares, the total reads eighteen. She sends the figure to Dojo Award Studio with the split beside it, because eighteen hides three different products. If a student withdraws before the test, the unit entry drops and she runs the count again.

Check these details before using the result

Counting families instead of students
Siblings who test together each need their own plaque. Count from the grading list, one line per student, not from the fee payments.
Mixing black belt pieces with color belts
A belt display is a different product from a rank plaque. Enter it as an additional category piece so the quote treats it separately.
Ordering spare plaques with no plan
A blank spare cannot become a named plaque later without engraving. Decide what a spare would be used for, or enter zero.

Belt Rank Plaque

Use the exact rank terminology your school awards. A promotion plaque records an achievement; if you want to display a physical belt as well, specify its folded dimensions and request a holder in the design.

Questions about this calculator

Does the calculator know how many students will pass?

No. It multiplies and adds the numbers you enter. Many schools count every student invited to test, proof the full list and confirm the pass list after the grading. Others order after results. Either way, the count you type should match the list you intend to send for a quote.

How do I count a student who skips a rank?

One student is still one piece. A double promotion changes the rank engraved on the plaque, not the quantity. Note it on the list you send so the proof shows the rank actually awarded. If your school gives a plaque for each rank passed, add one to the additional pieces for that student.

A multi-dojo award distribution schedule

Coordinate a multi-dojo order through one shared item schedule, with separate rank approvals, exact names, destination quantities and receiving owners for every location.

Belt display headers versus complete belt racks

A personalized header names the display; a complete belt rack must also provide the approved belt-holding components and mounting arrangement. Compare the complete included scope.

Black belt plaque wording and gift ideas

Black belt gift and plaque results are marketplace listings with no editorial guidance. This page gives a fields table, a wording bank of original lines grouped by giver and by length with exact character counts, junior black belt and Poom wording, and gift formats matched to Dojo Award Studio products, while telling buyers to confirm rank terms with their school.

Grading plaques versus tournament medals

Use grading plaques to record an approved rank milestone and tournament medals to recognize the event’s defined result, with separate eligibility, wording and quantities.
